Job Title: Electrician

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrician to join our on-site Building Services team. You’ll support the smooth running of multiple buildings and world-class facilities, working as part of a close-knit, professional team. This role offers varied work, responsibility, and the chance to contribute directly to a collaborative environment supporting engineers, scientists, and support staff.

The Role
You’ll work closely with the existing electrician and wider Building Services team (team of 5 within a department of 9) on a wide range of electrical tasks including installations, inspections, testing, fault-finding, and repairs. The role involves both planned and reactive maintenance, supervision of contractors, and contributing to refurbishment and fit-out projects across 4 buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical installations, inspections, testing, and fault-finding
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical works and testing
  • Organise and support external contractors, liaising with administrators and managers
  • Undertake maintenance tasks logged via the Building Services system
  • Investigate faults, apply temporary fixes, and arrange permanent solutions
  • Participate in the out-of-hours response rota
  • Provide electrical technical support to line managers
  • Undertake additional reasonable tasks as required

About You

  • Fully qualified electrician (C&G Level 2 Electrical Installations or NVQ equivalent)
  • IEE 18th Edition certification
  • City & Guilds Electrical Inspection & Testing
  • Experience across a broad range of electrical work
  • Additional maintenance skills (basic carpentry, plumbing, decorating) desirable
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and customer service skills
  • Good communication, reliability, and self-motivation
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH legislation
  • Experience in large commercial/industrial facilities desirable
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK without restrictions and able to meet National Security Vetting requirements
