Role Overview:
Join a busy and dynamic maintenance team providing a full range of electrical services across a variety of buildings including laboratories, offices, and research spaces. You’ll work independently handling electrical installations, planned maintenance, and reactive repairs to keep our facilities running smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead small electrical projects from start to finish, including design advice, material sourcing, installation, testing, and user support.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in complex electrical systems such as mains distribution, switchgear, fans, pumps, control circuits, lighting, heating, research equipment, and security systems.
  • Ensure safety standards are upheld by identifying electrical risks and taking action to protect staff and equipment.
  • Supervise external electrical contractors to ensure work meets safety and quality standards.
  • Carry out inspections, preventative maintenance, and statutory tests on electrical systems including fire alarms and emergency lighting.
  • Manage procurement and budgeting for electrical supplies and materials.
  • Keep up-to-date with electrical regulations and emerging technologies to continually improve maintenance practices.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as an electrical technician or electrician, ideally in a similar multi-use building environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to supervise contractors and coordinate small projects.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with users, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
