We are looking to appoint a Mechanical small works manager will work directly with the Operations Department, plumbing and heating engineers.

The SWM will often communicate directly with customers and suppliers to ensure accurate communication of job or project status and requirements.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  •  Will direct the daily operations of domestic and small commercial projects by successfully performing the following tasks, duties, and responsibilities.
  • Schedule, direct, and provide technical support to plumbing and heating engineers;
  • Supervise the plumbing and heating engineers onsite to ensure effective equipment repair, installation, and operation along with any other duties as required to ensure customer satisfaction;
  • Review the work of plumbing and heating engineers to ensure final quality meets established standards, techniques, and safety requirements whilst making recommendations as required to improve quality and productivity;
  • Communicate regularly with the Operations Department and other managers to ensure that site staff and other personnel are being scheduled properly by skill level, efficiency, and training requirements;
  • Communicate daily with the Operations Department and other managers reporting on project information, estimated time to complete jobs, labour hours required, and parts or materials used to ensure no cost overruns;
  • Attend departmental meetings with other team members;
  • Maintain communication with suppliers and representatives concerning warranty issues, product recall notices, operational problems with products, premature failures, and other issues;
  • Review work orders, purchase invoices, and time reports for accuracy and invoice clients in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Specify and arrange for required parts to be ordered in a timely fashion to ensure work deadlines are met;
  • Ensure that all company / department policies are being followed by all engineers;
  • Keep current with latest training on products and assist with the training of engineers to ensure personnel maintain proficiency in preventive maintenance, fault finding, and repairs of relevant equipment;
  • Work with other divisional managers to meet company and departmental goals and objectives;
  • NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating (Preferred)
  • Gas Qualifications

Well..! , Is this you? 

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills;
  • Extensive Plumbing and Heating related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Exhibit an in-depth knowledge and understanding of their trade;
  • The ability to read, interpret, utilize, and train on manuals, schematics, and control circuits related to plumbing and heating systems;
  • Technical aptitude with knowledge of current systems and an ability to use resources at hand to find solutions;
  • Excellent leadership skills to enhance team productivity and standards of work produced;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong conflict management skills;
  • Detail oriented and highly organised with the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments;
  • Good computer skills with a knowledge of and proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and general software navigation;
  • Have a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and background; and
  • Willingness to work a non-standard schedule such as nights, weekends, and holidays as / if required.
