Job Opportunity: Plumber for Busy Mechanical Maintenance Team

We are seeking a skilled Plumber to join our dynamic Mechanical Maintenance team. Our Maintenance Section is dedicated to maintaining our operational estate and carrying out minor refurbishments, alterations, and Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM).

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting repairs and alterations within the estate, both internally and externally.
  • Performing a variety of tasks as a frontline operative to ensure facilities are readily available for University staff.
  • Repairing and upgrading toilets, basins, and showers.
  • Completing pipe work repairs for hot and cold water systems.
  • Managing small-scale heating service repairs.

You will work independently or as part of a small team, which may include fitters, assistants, trainees, and specialist contractors, to repair and refurbish building services.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in Plumbing and Heating or an equivalent field.
  • Knowledge and compatibility of sanitary ware and its fittings.
  • Understanding of building services in a commercial setting.
  • Experience in fault diagnostics and subsequent repairs.
  • A clear understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations.
  • A flexible approach to work and excellent communication skills.
